FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Palisade?

It is a hardware solution to trace power consumption patterns and collects this data to be analyzed and processed using cutting-edgemachine-learning techniques. Using this technology, Palisade can detect ransomware and other attacks on your systems.

2. What is ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malicious software that infects a computer and restricts users' access to it until a ransom is paid to unlock it. Ransomware variants have been observed for several years and often attempt to extort money from victims by displaying an on-screen alert.

3. How much it cost to protect endpoints with Palisade?

Contact us for details.

4. How long would it take to setup Palisade software-only sensors in my system?

Approximately 5 minutes without automation.

5. How long would it take to setup Palisade hardware sensors in my system?

Approximately 1 hour for the initial system, after that it will be less than 1 minute per endpoint.

6. Do I need to dedicate some of my workforce to manage Palisade while it is in my system?

No, data acquisition, threat analysis, and management can be performed remotely by Palitronica’s team. This deployment will not affect your workforce or contribute to strain your resources.

7. What type of systems are compatible with Palisade?

IT systems: Desktop and laptop stations using an external power supply are good candidates for the deployment of Palisade boxes. Currently, Palisade is deployed on DELL and LENOVO hardware in multiple locations.

OT systems: DC-powered programmable logic controllers are currently supported.

8. How will this project manage data privacy?

Palitronica guarantees data privacy using the following practices: (1) Palisade boxes securely connect to data collection endpoints, (2) data is encrypted during transmission, (3) backend services support multi-tenancy and guarantee that each tenant can only access their own private data, and (4) local data privacy compliance (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR) for protection of personal data.

9. Palisade is deployable on IT and OT systems. What is an OT system?

Operational technology or OT is a category of computing and communication systems to manage, monitor and control industrial operations with a focus on the physical devices and processes they use. Operational technology, monitors and manages industrial process assets and manufacturing/industrial equipment.

10. What firewall setup is necessary to operate Palisade without an on-premises Data Aggregator?

The Palisade Sensors require one outgoing connection for each Palisade box to a specified IP address, which is provided to the IT administrators.

11. What firewall setup is necessary for operate Palisade with an on-premises Data Aggregator?

The Palisade Data Aggregator operates a VPN tunnel and one outgoing connection to a dedicated IP address.

12. How is the Palisade hardware sensor powered?

Palisade operates as an IEEE 802.3af compliant powered device. This provides galvanic isolation from the communications / IT infrastructure, in addition to the galvanic isolation with respect to the asset being protected.

13. Can I upgrade/add a Data Aggregator after I used Palisade without one?

Yes. All hardware purchased is also usable for the setup with a Data Aggregator. The Palisade hardware will get integrated into Data Aggregator after installation.
